Tesla's Chief Information Officer Nagesh Saldi to Leave, Multiple Executives Have Departed This Year

TapTechNews on October 6, according to a Bloomberg report on October 4 citing sources familiar with the matter, Tesla employees were informed that Chief Information Officer Nagesh Saldi will leave the company.

It is reported that Saldi reports directly to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Sources said that the news of his departure was shared with employees this week.

Two of the insiders said that the long-serving executive had been involved in the construction of new data centers in Texas and New York for Tesla. The company is expanding its computing power to accelerate breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and achieve autonomous driving.

Elon Musk, Saldi, and representatives of Tesla did not respond to requests for comment.

According to Saldi's LinkedIn profile, he left Hewlett-Packard in 2012 and joined Tesla, and became the chief information officer in 2018 when Tesla was in the throes of increasing the production of the Model 3 sedan. The chief information officer (CIO) is usually responsible for all information technology and security strategies, including data centers.

According to TapTechNews' previous reports, as Tesla's focus and priorities have changed, many other executives have left Tesla this year. For example, Tesla senior vice president Drew Baglino and government affairs head Rohan Patel left in April. Tesla's chief human resources officer Allie Arebalo also left a few months ago.

There are currently only three appointed executives left at Tesla: CEO Elon Musk, Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja, and Senior Vice President of Automobiles Tom Zhu.
