The photojournalist of the San Francisco Chronicle recently noticed that there are suspicious individuals standing guard outside the OpenAI office building, wearing black baseball caps, sunglasses, and discreetly wearing headphones, looking like plainclothes security guards.

Candace Combs, the owner of the nearby In-SymmetrySpa beauty salon, said that she had asked these suspicious individuals about their work unit and the company they were in, but they all refused to disclose any information.

According to TapTechNews' understanding, OpenAI first moved into its new 59,000-square-foot office in the Mission District of San Francisco in July 2023. According to the planning documents, this office building has a typical Silicon Valley tech company style, including a nap room, a mini-kitchen, a sun-gazing lounge, and a multimillion-dollar double-story library.

Since moving to the new location, OpenAI has been strictly keeping the office information secret, refusing to receive media reporters, and has never confirmed or denied its office location.

Iain Langlands, a cashier at a pet store just one block away from OpenAI, said that there is a'mysterious' atmosphere surrounding the OpenAI office. 'Whenever I pass the building or park, their security guards will stare at me.' Langlands said.

James, a staff member at another neighboring merchant, HealthCeramics, said that he had asked some suspicious individuals if they were working as security guards, but they 'never admitted it.' 'OpenAI is not a bad neighbor, but they are really mysterious,' James said.

The Bureau of Security and Investigative Services in California, which is responsible for issuing security licenses, said that unarmed security guards do not need to wear uniforms or badges, but they must be employed by security companies, legal enterprises, or public institutions, and they must show license information to law enforcement personnel.
