The interviewer:

Thank you. When I think about this question, I really can't think of an answer. I mean, there are already various technologies available now, but I really can't imagine what the future will be like. But now I have a clearer vision, and I think this is my last question. When we discuss future innovation, do you have any personal vision or dream project that you hope to achieve in the field of entertainment at this moment?

Neil Druckmann:

I'm very lucky because I've already had such an opportunity. I've been given several opportunities to produce my dream projects. I'm currently working on a new project, which is perhaps the most exciting one for me so far. I can't say it or my boss will be very angry. I think in general, what's happening now makes me feel very cool, that is, a new understanding of games that I've never seen before. When I was growing up, games were more for kids, and now it's clearly for everyone. But it's like, if you're a gamer, you know the potential of games, and for non-gamers, they don't know what they're missing. But I hope that when we turn The Last of Us into a TV series, it can change this situation. That's why I'm involved. I really hope it succeeds because I hope that there will be a situation where someone will watch this series, like it very much, and fall in love with the characters, just like we (players) fall in love with these characters and their stories. And in the end find out, 'Wait, this is adapted from a game?' And then discover that the narrative in the game is so rich. So now I think games have become the focus. You know, the live-action series of Fallout has just aired and it's a huge success for Amazon. I think it's really exciting. Not because games need to be made into movies or TV series, but I think it makes a lot of people open their eyes and they didn't know before that there are such experiences in games. I think now we've reached a critical point where people will realize: 'Oh my god, there are so many incredible and touching experiences in games!' So, I'm not only excited about this game that we're making, which is something very new to us, but also looking forward to seeing the world's reaction to it. Because of the success of The Last of Us and this series, even people outside the game are paying attention to us and seeing what we'll come up with next. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's reaction to this game. I've said a lot already and I won't say more. Well, what you asked is my dream project, and I'm very lucky to be able to work with excellent collaborators to make my favorite games and I'm very grateful to them.
