ByteDance Office in Singapore Hit by Food Poisoning, Nearly 60 Hospitalized

TapTechNews July 31, according to a report by The Straits Times in Singapore, a large-scale food poisoning incident occurred at the ByteDance office in Singapore on Tuesday afternoon local time, resulting in nearly 60 people being hospitalized.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in response to a reporter's inquiry that they are investigating suspected gastroenteritis cases reported at ByteDance's One Raffles Quay office. The authorities said in a joint statement that as of July 30, among the 60 people with gastroenteritis symptoms, 57 have gone to the hospital for medical treatment.

A ByteDance spokesperson said in response to inquiries: We attach great importance to the health and safety of our employees, and have immediately taken measures to support all affected employees, including cooperating with emergency services to provide care. We are also investigating this matter and cooperating with relevant authorities to solve the problem.

TapTechNews noted that this is the second major food poisoning incident in Singapore within a week. From July 23 to 24, a total of 165 civil defense personnel at the Civil Defense Academy campus in Jalan Bahar fell ill.
