In June this year, the Xiamen police received a report that an account named Xiaoyi Watching the World on a certain Internet platform released a graphic and video: A 70-year-old man in Huayang Town, Wuhua County, Guangdong Province was beaten into a coma, and his grandson jumped into the river and committed suicide for this. The beater was sentenced to nine years and ten months in the first instance.
Once this video was released, it quickly attracted a large number of netizens' attention. Through the investigation and judgment of the police, it was found that the graphic content of this video was a network rumor that was shifted and fabricated at will, and the rumor-maker Ren was arrested on the evening of June 13th.
According to Ren's confession, this several-minute, vivid video was all synthesized by AI. He looked for eye-catching titles through the website list, and then used an automatic generation tool to generate articles with false content, and automatically generated pictures according to the article content to combine into false videos. Released through social platforms to achieve the purpose of draining traffic and increasing the number of fans of the video account, and then illegally made profits according to the profit rules of the video account traffic.
