China's Charging Pile Development 10.244 Million Units by June 2024

TapTechNews July 31st news, TapTechNews learned from the National Energy Administration that Zhang Xing, deputy director general of the General Office of the National Energy Administration, said at today's press conference that as of the end of June this year, the total number of charging piles in the country reached 10.244 million units, an increase of 54% year-on-year. The scale of charging facilities in China continues to expand. As of the end of June this year, there were 3.122 million public charging piles and 7.122 million private charging piles, and the total rated power of public piles exceeded 110 million kilowatts, ensuring the charging demand of 24 million new energy vehicles in China.

In the first half of the year, the national charging volume of new energy vehicles was about 51.3 billion kWh, an increase of 40% year-on-year, and the single-day charging volume on expressways during the May Day holiday set a historical high. Up to now, a total of 27,200 charging piles have been cumulatively built in expressway service areas (including parking areas), basically covering all provinces in the country.

According to the data released by the China Charging Alliance, the increment of charging infrastructure was 1.647 million units, an increase of 14.2% year-on-year. Among them, the increment of public charging piles was 396,000 units, an increase of 12.7% year-on-year, and the increment of private charging piles built with the vehicle was 1.252 million units, an increase of 14.7% year-on-year. As of June 2024, the cumulative number of charging infrastructure in the country was 10.243 million units, an increase of 54.0% year-on-year.
