According to the introduction, this lens can cover the focal length from wide-angle 28mm to telephoto 300mm, with a zoom ratio of 10.7 times, a length of 126mm, and a weight of 610g. It has a built-in linear motor focusing mechanism VXD, which can achieve fast focusing in the full focal range. Its closest shooting distance at the 28mm wide-angle end is 0.19 meters, and the maximum photography magnification is 1:2.8. In addition, the lens is also equipped with a connection port and a focus setting button, and supports the Tamron independently developed dedicated software TAMRON Lens Utility.

The lens structure is 13 groups of 20 pieces, using 1 piece of XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) lens and 1 piece of LD (Low Dispersion) low dispersion lens, which can effectively suppress various aberrations such as chromatic aberration. At the same time, it also has a BBAR-G2 coating that can reduce glare and ghosting. It has the unified Φ2.64 inches diameter of Tamron's full-frame mirrorless lens series, and also supports various built-in functions such as high-speed hybrid AF and eye AF of Sony cameras.
