China's April Power Battery Installation Volume Hits 35.4 GWh, Up 41% Year-On-Year, with CATL, BYD, and Svolt Leading

According to the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance as reported by TapTechNews on May 11, driven by the demand in the new energy vehicle sector, both the production and sales of power batteries and other battery types saw a significant increase in April.

In April, the total production of power and other batteries reached 78.2 GWh, up 3.2% month-on-month and 60.0% year-on-year. Sales totaled 73.5 GWh, with a month-on-month increase of 0.3% and a year-on-year increase of 57%.

During the same month, companies like EVE Energy, RuiPu New Energy, Honeycomb Energy, and Microvast exceeded the average growth rate. Specifically focusing on power battery sales, Svolt, Honeycomb Energy, RuiPu New Energy, and Microvast outperformed the average growth rate of 28.5%.

In terms of exports, the export of power and other types of batteries in April increased by 28.5% year-on-year. Among them, power battery exports increased by 1.7%, with BYD, Funeng Technology, Honeycomb Energy, and Microvast surpassing the average growth rate.

For April, China's power battery installation volume was 35.4 GWh, up 40.9% year-on-year and 1.4% month-on-month. Ternary batteries accounted for 9.9 GWh of this volume, making up 28.0% of the total and marking a 24.1% year-on-year increase. Lithium iron phosphate batteries represented 71.9% of the total at 25.5 GWh, which is up 48.7% year-on-year and 7.8% month-on-month.

TapTechNews noted that from January to April of this year, China achieved installations of 1,138.8 MWh in solid-state batteries and 1.3 MWh in sodium-ion batteries, with main suppliers being WeLion New Energy, CATL, and Funeng Technology.
