TapTechNews noted that although there are many competitors of SteamDeck on the market, but most of these devices are equipped with Windows or Android systems, rather than SteamOS. Although these systems can also meet the basic needs, many users have been looking forward to experiencing the SteamOS specifically optimized for games on their handheld consoles.

Valve has clearly stated its intention to expand SteamOS to more devices, but due to being busy developing the new generation of SteamDeck, this plan was once shelved. However, the latest SteamOS 3.6.9 Beta version update shows that the situation may have changed.

The update log clearly mentions added support for extra ROG Ally keys (AddedsupportforextraROGAllykeys), which is regarded as a strong signal indicating that Valve is preparing to adapt SteamOS to other handheld devices such as ROG Ally.

If this speculation is true, then the day when SteamOS officially lands on more portable game console platforms may not be far away.
