Capcom announced today that the global cumulative sales of the Monster Hunter series have exceeded 100 million copies, with Monster Hunter: World selling over 25 million copies (including iceborne) and setting new records. Monster Hunter Rise has sold over 15 million copies, and Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak has sold over 8 million copies.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Monster Hunter, the latest installment, Monster Hunter: Wild, will debut on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox series platforms in early 2025.
In fact, Golem previously leaked that Capcom had started development on Monster Hunter: Wild in 2019, meaning the game has been brewing in Capcom's development lab for 6 years.
Golem revealed that the game producer had complete freedom in developing Monster Hunter: Wild, indicating that the game will include many abandoned ideas and gameplay from Monster Hunter: World. Furthermore, Golem stated that Monster Hunter: Wild will be a completely open world, which TapTechNews previously reported will be similar to Dragon's Dogma 2, using the new open world technology based on the RE engine.
