TapTechNews June 14th news, the head of Blizzard's World of Warcraft and senior vice president John Hight announced his departure today. He has been working at Blizzard for 12 years.
John Hight expressed his thanks to the player community, the development team, and the leadership team. There is currently no next plan to share, and he will continue to play World of Warcraft as a pure player.
The official X account of World of Warcraft also replied to this post, expressing the team's thanks to John Hight.
TapTechNews found that John Hight joined Blizzard in 2011 as the executive producer and vice president of World of Warcraft, and then was promoted to the overall leader of Warcraft in 2021.
During his tenure, he oversaw the expansions of Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight. He also participated in the release of Hearthstone and Warcraft: Arclight Rumble, as well as the 2016 World of Warcraft movie. Before joining Blizzard, he held leadership positions in projects such as EA's, Atari's, and Sony's God of War 3.
