Google Releases Chrome 126 Update with Vulnerability Fixes

TapTechNews June 14th news. Google on Tuesday (June 11th) released the Chrome 126 stable version browser update, focusing on fixing the high-risk memory safety vulnerability.

The Google Chrome 126 browser update fixes a total of 21 vulnerabilities, of which 18 are reported by external researchers.

Among the vulnerabilities reported by external personnel, 9 are rated as high severity, 2 are use-after-free problems in Dawn, 4 are type confusions in the V8 engine, in addition to improper implementation in Dawn and DevTools, and heap buffer overflow in TabGroups.

Google said it has rewarded the security experts who reported these vulnerabilities and has spent a cumulative total of more than 160000 US dollars. The highest bonus is CVE-2024-5839, with a bonus of 100115 US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 727000 RMB), and this vulnerability exists in the memory allocator with a medium severity level.

Google also rewards 25000 US dollars for the CVE-2024-5830 vulnerability to the expert who reported the vulnerability. This vulnerability exists in the V8 JavaScript engine and is a high-severity type confusion problem.

As usual, Google does not provide detailed information about this vulnerability.
