Meta Adjusts Quest App Store Search Weight and Merges with AppLab

TapTechNews May 19th, according to the official press release of Meta, Meta announced that it will adjust the search weight of the Quest app store as of today. Now the ranking of applications of small developers in the user's search results will also be in a more forward position, claiming to be able to effectively provide a more fair competitive environment for smaller studios.

In addition, Meta has also merged the Quest app store and AppLab, where AppLab is a software testing platform specifically created by Meta for start-ups/developers, allowing any developer who meets basic technical and content requirements to directly distribute software on the platform, somewhat similar to Apple's TestFlight.

Meta mentioned that now users can directly search for applications from AppLab in the Quest app store, and can also directly search for relevant testing applications by clicking the AppLab tab in the store.

TapTechNews noticed that Meta also removed the warning words when running AppLab games in the recent Quest v65 head-mounted display software update. Users will only receive a prompt of This application may be experimental or still in development in the list of experimental applications in the application store/Quest main menu, which further indicates that Meta is currently improving the application distribution experience of individual developers/small start-ups.
