Tesla's Robotaxi Release Delayed Due to Modifications

TapTechNews July 12th news, according to Bloomberg report, informed sources revealed that due to the certain elements of the Robotaxi prototype of Tesla's self-driving taxi need to be modified, the company plans to postpone the vehicle's release time from the original August 8th to October so that the project team has more time to manufacture more prototype vehicles.

The idea of launching an autonomous taxi service has been brewing at Tesla for many years, at least dating back to Musk's Master Plan Part Two written for Tesla in 2016. Musk has prioritized a series of projects in recent months rather than developing a Model 2 electric car that is cheaper than Tesla's current Model 3.

However, now the delay of Robotaxi implies that Tesla is facing challenges. Currently, the company is testing related camera sensor tests in the North California area. Referring to the previous report of TapTechNews, recently, a user on Reddit witnessed a Tesla Model 3 test vehicle with multiple suspicious cameras installed. As can be seen from the photos, this test vehicle has three cameras with unique positions, seemingly testing the camera position for Robotaxi to evaluate the autopilot performance.
