Interstellar Glory's JD-2 Engine Achieves Milestones in Testing

TapTechNews August 5th news, the JD-2 engine independently developed by Beijing Interstellar Glory Space Technology Co., Ltd. has successively completed three hot tests such as variable thrust and high-condition pull deviation, 200-second long-range at 90% rated condition, and 200-second long-range at 100% rated condition within one week, with a newly added cumulative working time of 500 seconds.

Interstellar Glory disclosed that in this round of testing, the product further optimized the gas seal purging sequence and flow, the cooling split ratio of the thrust chamber, and the start-up and shutdown sequence to achieve the purposes of reducing gas consumption and lowering the temperature and pressure start-up/shutdown impact peaks; and made independent dual-channel redundant improvements to the ignition circuit of the combustion device and anti-loosening/anti-disengagement improvements at the core connection parts, enhancing the reliability of the engine's ignition and long-term operation.

TapTechNews learned that in this round of testing, the mixture ratio of the thrust chamber reached 3.8, and the thrust reached 93 tons, and the chamber pressure and thrust of the engine reached the highest value of domestic open-cycle liquid oxygen methane engines. The engine was in good condition after the test and met the performance index requirements of the SQX-3 rocket overall for the engine. The main stage sequence of the three tests set the same condition, and the error between the three tests was within ±1%, and the stability of the reusable performance of the engine was verified by assessment.

In the follow-up, the JD-2 engine will continue to conduct multi-sample high-frequency testing, rapidly iterate and optimize the product technical state, and deliver highly reliable and high-performance engine products for the first flight of the SQX-3 rocket as soon as possible.
