Samsung Electronics Union in South Korea to Hold 4-Day Strike

TapTechNews August 13th news, according to Yonhap News Agency, the reinstated National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) in South Korea announced today that it has informed its members that it will hold a four-day strike from August 15th to 18th.

NSEU is the largest union of Samsung Electronics, with more than 30,000 members, accounting for about 24% of the total number of Samsung's employees in South Korea.

August 15th is Korea's National Day. The union said it will refuse to work on holidays, and then will go on strike according to work patterns such as deformed shift change, 4 groups of 3 shifts, and autonomous commuting system.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the last strike of NSEU started on July 8th and became an indefinite strike from July 10th, and ended on August 2nd.

When NSEU ended the last strike, it said: We need to transform the way of struggle while continuing to put pressure on the management to reduce the economic burden on union members. Due to the final breakdown of the negotiation, the strike has entered a long-term stage, and we will advance through surprise strikes and compliant actions to ensure the success of the ongoing efforts.
