China's Jielong-3 Yaosi Carrier Rocket to Be Launched in August, with Updates on Features and Missions

TapTechNews July 9th news, according to the China Long March Rocket Co., Ltd., recently, the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (abbreviated as: the First Institute of Aerospace) organized the factory acceptance review meeting of the Jielong-3 Yaosi carrier rocket. At the meeting, the review group listened to the reports related to the development and quality analysis of the Jielong-3 Yaosi carrier rocket, and confirmed that the development of the Jielong-3 Yaosi carrier rocket met the requirements of all levels of factory release criteria, had the conditions for leaving the factory, and agreed to pass the review. The rocket will be launched at an optional time in August.

On February 3, 2024, the Jielong-3 Yaosan carrier rocket was successfully launched, and half a year later, the Yaosi carrier rocket completed the factory acceptance review. This means that the Jielong-3 Yaosi carrier rocket has the conditions for entering the site, and the subsequent tasks such as satellite-rocket docking, whole rocket docking, transfer to the ship to go to sea and launch test will be carried out smoothly.

The Jielong-3 Yaosi carrier rocket will continue to use the marine hot launch method this time, and the launch site is set in the Yellow Sea area. For this launch mission, it will be the first time for the Jielong-3 rocket to launch a sun-synchronous orbit satellite in the Yellow Sea area.

TapTechNews learned from the Aerospace Science and Technology Group that the total length of the Jielong-3 carrier rocket is 31.8 meters (about 104.3 feet), the maximum diameter of the rocket body is 2.65 meters (about 8.7 feet), the take-off mass is 140 tons, and the carrying capacity of the 500-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit is 1.5 tons. It supports rapid launch on land and at sea. The rocket has 2.9-meter diameter and 3.35-meter diameter fairings, with high mission cost-effectiveness and applicability, and has the launch ability of one rocket with 20 satellites.
