Chinese Railway's Passenger Traffic and Developments from January to July

TapTechNews August 12th news, the Chinese railway authorities officially announced that from January to July this year, the national railway sent 2.522 billion passengers, and the passenger turnover was 945.453 billion passenger-kilometers. Both increased by 15.7% and 10.6% respectively, both setting new records for the same period in history.

TapTechNews learned that the national railway averaged 10,434 passenger trains per day, an increase of 998 trains and a growth rate of 10.6% compared to the same period last year. The railway department adopted measures such as adding temporary passenger trains, re-linking EMUs, and adding carriages to regular-speed passenger trains to increase capacity in popular directions and sections, and organized transportation during the Spring Festival travel rush and the Qingming, May Day, Dragon Boat Festival, and summer vacation periods.

The railway department operates overnight high-speed rail sleeper trains between Beijing-Hong Kong and Shanghai-Hong Kong, arranges 2 international passenger trains from Xishuangbanna in China to Luang Prabang in Laos on the China-Laos Railway, and resumes operating the international passenger train from Hohhot in China to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.

From January to July, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway cumulatively sent 15.377 million cross-border passengers, an increase of 54.7% year-on-year, and the China-Laos Railway cumulatively sent 139,000 cross-border passengers.
