TapTechNews noticed that the Xbox 360 performed much better, and its 84.9 million units in hardware sales was very close to the 87.4 million units of PS3. In the analysis, The Wall Street Journal pointed out that the PS3's price was $600, which is equivalent to $934 in 2024 after adjusting for inflation, much more expensive than the PS5 Pro, which still costs $700.

Data also shows that the sales of Xbox One is 57.9 million units, which is a little more than half of the 117 million units of PS4. And as of June 2024, the sales of the Xbox Series series is 28.3 million units, less than half of the 61.7 million units of PS5.

This indicates that Sony will achieve another decisive victory in the console war. Microsoft hopes to make up for the lack of hardware sales through its GamePass subscription model and cloud gaming, but whether this strategy can achieve results in the long term remains an unknown.
