Google to Add 16KB Page Size to Android System for Performance Boost

TapTechNews August 24th news, Google's Android Developer Blog released a blog post yesterday (August 23rd), stating that it will add a 16KB page size (PageSize) to the Android system. After users enable this option, the memory usage will increase, but the system performance can be improved.

Google said that in the past, Android only supported a 4KB memory page size, and starting from the Android 15 system, AOSP supports device configuration to use a 16KB page size.

Google said that after the Android system uses a larger page size, an overall performance improvement of 5-10% was observed, and the memory used increased by about 9%.

Google said that in order to improve the overall performance of the operating system and provide device manufacturers with a trade-off choice, Android 15 has a built-in option, and users can switch to use 4KB or 16KB page sizes.
