Apple's Foldable MacBook Update Delay and Specifications

TapTechNews August 22nd news, Kuo Ming-chi updated one of his analysis reports in May today. He said that the mass production of Apple's first foldable product, the Full-screen Foldable MacBook, has been postponed from the first half of 2026 to the end of 2027 or 2028.

Kuo Ming-chi mentioned that the display panel of this Full-screen Foldable MacBook is exclusively supplied by LG Display. The final size of the display screen determined by Apple is 18.8 inches (TapTechNews note: 13-14 inches after folding), and the previously developed 20.25-inch (14-15 inches after folding) plan has been abandoned.

He also mentioned that previously some market insiders expected Apple to launch a folding iPad in 2025, but currently the supply chain investigation results do not provide any evidence that Apple will release a folding iPad.

Kuo Ming-chi said that judging from the cost of the panel and the device, the price of the folding MacBook should not be cheap. If Apple cannot significantly improve the yield and reduce the cost before mass production, then the cost of the folding MacBook may be close to that of VisionPro.
