SK Hynix Partners with HLDS to Launch SuperMulti Storage Brand at Computex 2024

TapTechNews reported on June 7 that according to BenchLife.info and Tom'sHardware, SK Hynix, in collaboration with HLDS, launched the consumer storage brand SuperMulti at Computex 2024. HLDS is Hitachi LG Data Storage, a joint venture between Hitachi and LG Electronics in the optical storage field, and also has businesses in the display and sensor sectors. The company has signed a global distribution cooperation agreement with SK Hynix.

This is not the first time the two shareholders of HLDS have used the SuperMulti brand. LG Electronics has previously launched a multi-format DVD burner named SuperMulti.

SK Hynix has previously launched only a few flagship-positioned products in the consumer retail storage field, such as Gold P31 and Platinum P41 solid-state drives, and Tube T31 and Beetle X31 portable solid-state drives.

This new brand SuperMulti, in cooperation with HLDS, mainly targets the more mainstream market for the general public and provides more diverse choices for mobile storage.

At Computex 2024, SuperMulti showcased several storage hardware based on SK Hynix particles, including DDR4 SODIMM, UDIMM memory modules, and SATA, M.2 solid-state drives, etc.

These products continue the 'colorful crystal' design of SK Hynix's own consumer storage products in the sticker art style.

Both solid-state drives of SuperMulti are equipped with third-party main controllers without external cache, namely SM2259XT2 for SATA and PS5021-E21 for M.2, which is in line with the mainstream market positioning of SuperMulti.

TapTechNews noticed that the particles of these storage products of SuperMulti all have the silk screen of Hitachi-LGDataStorage.
