This recall was initially defined by Jaguar Land Rover as a non-compliance recall, but was later upgraded to a voluntary safety recall. The company said that these clutch discs may not meet the flatness requirements of the engineering specification during the manufacturing process, which can lead to the accumulation of heat inside the clutch and the degradation of the material, and may also cause the transmission fluid contaminants to clog the hydraulic system, making the clutch inoperable.

Jaguar Land Rover noted that reduced oil pressure can cause the transmission to unexpectedly shift to neutral and lose power, thereby increasing the risk of a collision. Owners of affected vehicles will not receive any alert of problems.

TapTechNews noted that this recall involves 2024 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. Nine Range Rovers produced between September 11th, 2023 and November 9th, 2023 and 10 Range Rover Sports produced between September 4th, 2023 and October 27th, 2023 will be recalled.

Jaguar Land Rover received the first report about this problem on November 21st, 2023 and has been continuously monitoring until April this year. In mid-April, the Product Safety and Compliance Committee launched an investigation into this problem and determined that the incidence of this problem constitutes an unreasonable safety risk. On May 23rd, Jaguar Land Rover decided to initiate a recall. The company has received 13 claims and field reports related to this problem in the US, but it is not clear whether any accidents, casualties or fire incidents have occurred.

Dealers will receive the recall notice on June 13th, and owners will receive the notice on or before July 26th. Authorized Jaguar Land Rover technicians will conduct a diagnostic test to determine if the clutch is working properly, and transmission that fails the test will be replaced free of charge.
