Spotify Announces New Custom Exclusive Font

TapTechNews May 22nd news, the music streaming platform Spotify tonight announced the launch of a brand-new custom exclusive font, SpotifyMix, which goes live on the App and web today and will cover the entire Spotify experience within a few weeks.

According to Rasmus Wängelin, the global head of Spotify brand design, SpotifyMix is a variable font specifically designed for Spotify. As the name suggests, the team sees it as a kind of remix.

To design this font, we broke the traditional typesetting limitations and merged elements of various font styles together. This approach reflects the dynamics and evolution of the audio culture over the years.

Ultimately, this sans-serif font combines the characteristics of classic and modern styles, creating a distinctive and unique look. We skillfully incorporated the shape of the sound wave to evoke a sense of rhythm. The combination of sharp angles and smooth curves endows the font with a unique personality, giving a typical Spotify feel.

SpotifyMix font is designed in collaboration with DinamoTypefaces in Berlin and will be applied in areas from playlists to community marketing campaigns, such as the Spotify Beach event during the Cannes International Festival of Creativity, which opens on June 17th.
