Microsoft to Introduce AI Resource Manager in Win11 24H2 Update

Microsoft is set to release the Win11 24H2 update in June this year, with the highly anticipated 'AI Resource Manager' feature expected to be rolled out to all users in September or October. In the latest Win11 Build 26212, a new feature called 'Recallsandsnapshots' appears under the privacy and security settings page.

TapTechNews noticed that the word 'Recalls' is always capitalized, while 'snapshots' seems to be part of the 'Recalls' feature and is not capitalized.

According to WindowsLatest, the concept of the 'AI Resource Manager' or 'Recalls' feature in Win11 is very interesting. This feature can record all user actions on the computer and allow users to browse them in a searchable timeline format. For example, users can view the apps opened, documents accessed, and movies watched, and revisit the operating interface at that time using the 'snapshots' feature. If you are working on a quarterly report for the company and forget to save the location, you can use the 'Recalls' feature to find the most recently edited document.

Another use case is finding browsing history. For instance, if you recently read some articles about ancient civilizations on your browser but can't remember the specific URLs, simply type 'show me articles about ancient civilizations that I viewed last week' and the 'Recalls' feature will retrieve them for you.

Since the 'AI Resource Manager' or 'Recalls' feature records screen operations, it does not rely on the interfaces of applications and can run continuously. Users can search in everyday language, like 'find the recipe Lucy sent me last month via WhatsApp,' and the 'AI Resource Manager' will locate it for you.

Of course, Microsoft also values user privacy. This feature does not send data to the cloud but relies on hardware with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for local processing. The AI capabilities of the Win11 24H2 update will be limited to devices using the Snapdragon X series processors and requiring hardware specifications such as 16GB of memory, 256GB of storage space, and an NPU performance of at least 45 TOPS.
