Chip design company Arm eyes over 50% market share in Windows in 5 years

TapTechNews June 3rd news, according to Reuters, Rene Haas, the chief executive of the chip design company Arm, said in an interview today, "I think that within the next five years, Arm's market share in Windows may exceed 50%." Currently, Microsoft and its hardware partners are preparing to launch a batch of computers based on Arm technology.

It is mentioned in the report that Microsoft announced an ambitious plan last month and launched a new generation of computer products with AI functions to compete with manufacturers such as Google and Apple.

Microsoft has also developed a set of software development tools to develop programs that can run on Arm chips. Rene Haas said that Microsoft has already far surpassed the original level of (development tools) and has really made progress in the past few years. "From the software perspective, they are very, very dedicated."

Rene Haas added that Qualcomm has already designed the first Arm-based chip and launched new Arm models based on Windows for consumers and enterprises, and other suppliers will follow. In addition, Microsoft has also signed contracts with a large number of equipment manufacturers such as ASUS and Dell to sell new models based on the Arm system.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, Rene Haas said in the earnings call last month that everything he heard indicates that there will be multiple suppliers serving this market in the next 12 to 36 months.
