Valve Releases SteamVR 2.5 Update with Optimizations for Quest Users

TapTechNews May 12th News - SteamVR 2.5 update is now available, including optimization for Quest users' SteamLink experience.

Valve launched the SteamLink app for Meta Quest in November 2023, allowing users to easily connect their Quest headset to SteamVR wirelessly, bypassing Meta's AirLink function to enjoy PCVR games or PC flat games. In addition to a series of bug fixes and user experience optimizations for SteamVR, Quest users will also experience more stable connections when using SteamLink.

Valve mentioned in the update log that optimizations for SteamLink include:

Improved prediction function to enhance lateral tracking stability

Fixed initialization issues causing connection failures (both client and server need to be updated)

Fixed continuous connection failures caused by the headset going into standby and returning

Fixed deadlock issues when inserting or removing USB devices on the host side

Fixed two client crash issues

Fixed video encoder initialization issues for certain AMD integrated graphics cards
