The Macau Bridge, which took four years and cost over 5.2 billion yuan to design and construct, is also the fourth cross-sea bridge connecting the Macau Peninsula to Taipa. It is a landmark livelihood project in Macau. Vehicles can travel back and forth between the New Town Area A, the Macau Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Management Area, and the Taipa North An area through multiple entrances and exits of the Macau Bridge.

After the Macau Bridge is activated, the traffic route from Cotai to the artificial island is expected to be transferred from the Friendship Bridge to the Macau Bridge. The new route is about 3 kilometers shorter than that via the Friendship Bridge, and the driving time is saved by about 3 to 6 minutes.

It is a key node in building the Macau urban transportation system.
