WeChat Medical Insurance Payment Expands to Multiple Provinces and Supports Dozens of Chain Pharmacies in the US

TapTechNews July 5th news, TapTechNews learned from Tencent Health that WeChat medical insurance payment has been connected to more than 1,000 medical insurance-designated retail pharmacies in 7 major provinces and cities such as Guangdong, Xinjiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Shanghai, Shanxi, and Yunnan. Users can realize medical insurance drug purchase through various ways such as medical insurance service platform, online drug purchase service channels, and pharmacy WeChat mini-program.

Since 2023, Tencent Health has successively cooperated with local medical insurance bureaus to open the ability of medical insurance mobile payment settlement based on WeChat. Up to now, WeChat's online drug purchase medical insurance payment has supported more than ten domestic leading chain pharmacies such as Neptune Star, Gaoji, Dashenlin, Zhongzhi Pharmacy, Aixin Pharmacy, Guoda Pharmacy, Huashi Pharmacy, Yixintang, and Jianzhijia.

In the case of Guangdong Province, insured persons can enter the pharmacies mentioned above through the I Want to Find a Pharmacy in the Guangdong Medical Insurance WeChat mini-program, select the necessary medical insurance goods in the medical insurance zone, and after completing personal medical insurance information, they can use personal medical insurance account to pay.

After the pharmacy mini-program has the ability of medical insurance mobile payment, it can flexibly choose to access JD.com, Meituan and other online drug purchase service channels to achieve seamless jump payment for drug purchase.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the Beijing Medical Insurance Bureau announced that starting from July 1st, insured persons in Beijing can use the Alipay medical insurance personal account on the two drug purchase platforms of Meituan and JD.com to purchase over-the-counter drugs online at 300 medical insurance-designated retail pharmacies.
