In fact, the US Model Y RWD version of Tesla has experienced many changes recently. Not only has the price fluctuated greatly, but it also previously launched a Standard Range Version with a shorter range, and recently cancelled the Standard Range Version and simultaneously launched a Long Range Version. This OTA upgrade is precisely for this part of the users.

However, this is not quite the same as what Tesla previously promised. Users can currently only spend $1000 - $1600 to unlock 30 - 50 miles of range, slightly lower than the previously advertised $1500 - $2000 to unlock 40 - 60 miles of range.
