The plaintiff stated that to avoid misunderstandings, his purpose of appealing is to strive for that single-time members who don't renew continuously should have the same treatment as continuous-members. He agreed with both the result of the first-instance judgment that the old members enjoy the right to high-definition screen-casting within the original term and the compensation of 41 days of membership term.

TapTechNews learned from previous reports that Zhu Yuan has been an iQiyi member since 2017 and has continuously recharged to become a Gold VIP member of the iQiyi platform for five consecutive years, and has always enjoyed unrestricted screen-casting service. However, in January 2023, he found that iQiyi restricted the screen-casting definition of Gold VIP members to 480P, and to upgrade the membership to enjoy higher definition.

After ineffective communication with the iQiyi customer service, Zhu Yuan believed that iQiyi's act of unilaterally changing the contract terms has constituted a breach of contract and should bear the liability for breach of contract, so Zhu Yuan sued iQiyi to the court.

The first-instance judgment of the court determined that the plaintiff enjoys the high-definition screen-casting rights of 720P and 1080P before July 15, 2025, and the iQiyi platform compensates the plaintiff with 41 days of Gold VIP membership duration.
