Microsoft's Defender Antivirus in Windows 10 and 11 Protecting Against Malware Threats

TapTechNews September 28th news, Microsoft Corporation released a blog post on September 26th, reporting that Microsoft Defender Antivirus is built into Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems, which can detect and block keyloggers, screen scrapers, and other malicious software threats that can track, steal, or damage device data.

Screen scrapers (screenscrapers) are malicious programs that quietly take screenshots and/or record videos on the device's screen. This type of malicious software capability can exist independently without the need for keylogging functionality. In both cases, the stolen data is sent to the attacker over the network.

Microsoft's Protection Mechanism

Microsoft said that Microsoft Defender Antivirus combines machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based Microsoft Intelligent Security Graph technology to quickly identify and block malicious software.

Windows also uses technologies such as SecureBoot, TrustedBoot, and MeasuredBoot to ensure the security of the system startup process and prevent malicious software from tampering with the startup sequence.

After the computer boots up, Microsoft Defender Antivirus will use multiple detection engines to block when malicious software is found.

The Tamper protection function can prevent malicious software from turning off or modifying functions such as virus and threat protection.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevents users from downloading malicious software. Even if the real-time scan of Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned off, this function is still effective.

In order to enhance security, Microsoft recommends using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint in addition to the built-in Defender Antivirus.
