Sandbox Exploration Game Plasma to Stop Development and Become Free-to-Play

TapTechNews June 1st news, Patrick Corrieri and Marco Bancale, who have participated in the development of games such as Bridge Architect, formed a studio called DryLicorice. They launched a sandbox exploration game named Plasma last September. This game mainly competes with works like No Man's Sky, but due to 'insufficient competitiveness', the official has now announced that the game will stop development and will be provided for free.

The official said that the reason for making such a decision is that Plasma is a failed business project. The production team said that although they have done their best, many mistakes were made in the game development process, and even if it was launched in the early access stage, it failed to gain sufficient attention. However, they did not indicate whether they will refund the previously paid players. As a reference, this game was previously sold for $42 in the Steam China region.

Dear engineers,

We have two news to share today, one good news and one bad news.

First, the good news. From May 30th, Plasma will be freely downloadable and playable on Steam. We are doing this so that as many people as possible can enjoy it while the game is still relevant. Therefore, if you or anyone you know is interested in programming and/or robotics, now is the time to show your skills in the fun sandbox world of Plasma.

Next is the bad news. We have to make a difficult decision to no longer support the development of the game. We did our best and made many mistakes in the process, but the cruel reality is that Plasma failed completely as a business project. Although there are some things we wish we could have done differently, as a small independent team, we are still very proud of what we have achieved.

We thank all the players and community members for making the development journey of Plasma so special and unforgettable. Without you, this game would be meaningless. We are deeply sorry that this news disappoints you, but we hope to see you again in the next adventure!
