Intel Responds to Via Oxidation Speculation and Processor Stability Issues

TapTechNews August 3rd news, Intel Corporation released a statement again on August 2nd, responding to the speculation of some media about Via Oxidation, emphasizing that this is not the reason for the instability of the 13th/14th generation processors.

Intel Corporation stated that this kind of speculation is a bit misleading. Although it admits that there were relevant problems in the early stage of product development, these problems have been alleviated.

TapTechNews translated the official statement of Intel Corporation as follows:

The currently reported Via oxidation is just a minor problem. By improving the production process and in the screening situation at the beginning of 2023, this problem has been solved.

This [Via Oxidation] problem was discovered at the end of 2022. With Intel improving the manufacturing process and deploying additional screening mechanisms, the company has completely cleared the affected processors in the supply chain at the beginning of 2024. However, the inventory on the shelves may continue until the beginning of 2024.

Slight manufacturing problems are an inevitable fact for all silicon products. Intel continuously cooperates with customers to troubleshoot and repair product failure reports, and conducts public communication on product issues when the customer risk exceeds the Intel quality control threshold.

Intel officially stated earlier that by analyzing the returned processors, it was confirmed that the excessive operating voltage was caused by the microcode algorithm, and this algorithm sent an incorrect voltage request to the processor.
