TapTechNews July 12th news, according to foreign media VGC report, the Switch has now officially become the longest-living console product in Nintendo's history. Since its release on March 3, 2017, 2688 days have passed without a subsequent console arrival. This means that the life of the Switch has officially exceeded that of Nintendo's previous longest-living console, the FC Famicom (2686 days).
Referring to the previous report, the official has confirmed that the successor of the Switch, Switch2, will be announced in this fiscal year, that is, before the end of March 2025. Assuming that Switch2 is delayed and cannot be launched before March 1, 2025, then the life of the Switch may exceed 2920 days.
In addition, as of the end of March this year, the global cumulative sales of Nintendo Switch have reached 141.32 million units. If this game console continues to achieve the estimated sales (13.5 million) in this fiscal year, then it will beat the NDS (154 million) to become the world's second best-selling game console, second only to the PS2's 160 million sales.
