Publisher P Society (Paradox Interactive) recently announced a change in the developer of the game Prison Architect 2, switching from the long-term licensee developer Double Eleven to the Brazilian studio Kokku.

P Society stated: After working together for 9 years, Double Eleven will leave 'Prison Architect'. Double Eleven has been with us since the game's console port, leading the development of the game on all platforms, and has been committed to the development of 'Prison Architect 2' in recent years

As for the reason for terminating the contract, P Society stated in the press release: With the sequel certified on all platforms, the contract has been fulfilled. However, we could not find a business agreement that suits the development of both parties, so both parties agreed to part ways.

TapTechNews note: After the original developer Introversion Software sold the IP and game rights to Paradox Interactive in 2019, Double Eleven took over the development of Prison Architect entirely.

The company has been the lead developer of the sequel from the beginning, while Kokku has been assisting in preparing the game for release since last fall.

According to Double Eleven game director Gaz's another post on Reddit, Kokku took over the full development of the sequel in January 2024.
