Samsung to Use Titanium Metal in W25 and Galaxy ZFold6 Slim Folding Phones
TapTechNews August 21st news, the Korean media TheElec reported yesterday (August 20th) that Samsung W25 (sold in the domestic market) and Galaxy ZFold6 Slim (sold in the Korean market) will adopt titanium metal material, which is also Samsung's first folding screen phone to use titanium metal.
It is reported that Samsung has contacted multiple suppliers and is considering whether to use stainless steel or titanium metal for the back panel of the Galaxy ZFold6 Slim phone. If it is the latter, it will become Samsung's first folding screen phone to use titanium metal.
TapTechNews note: The back panels of Samsung's first-generation Galaxy Fold and Galaxy ZFold2 phones use stainless steel material, while in Galaxy ZFold3 and subsequent models, carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used to identify the SPen (a digital converter to recognize the stylus, and the metal back panel will interfere with the recognition).
It is said that the W25/Galaxy ZFold6 Slim phone does not support the SPen stylus, so there is no need to consider the problem of metal back panel interference, so Samsung uses metal as the back panel again.
Compared to stainless steel, using titanium metal as the back panel material is not as simple as imagined. Pure titanium is stronger and lighter than stainless steel, but it is also more difficult to process.
