Uber Partners with Cruise to Introduce Self-Driving Cars and Announces Future Plans

The two companies plan to launch a batch of self-driving cars based on the Chevrolet Bolt next year. After the launch of the cars, when Uber passengers request eligible ride services on the app, they may see the option of the trip being completed by a Cruise self-driving vehicle.

According to Uber's 2024 second-quarter financial report released, the second-quarter revenue was 10.7 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 4.993 billion yuan), higher than the analysts' expected 10.57 billion US dollars. Among them, the total revenue of ride-hailing services and delivery services was 9.4 billion US dollars (currently about 67.045 billion yuan), an increase of 19% year-on-year. Uber plans to achieve full electrification of its fleet by 2040, and has promised to invest 800 million US dollars (currently about 5.706 billion yuan) by 2025 to help achieve its goal.
