Volition Studio Closed Saints Row Reboot Sales Disappoint

TapTechNews May 17th news, game developer Volition Studio closed last year. At that time, the official explanation was that the latest official work 'Saints Row (reboot)' of the 'Saints Row' series did not sell well. Referring to TapTechNews news on September 1st last year, the parent company Embracer Group claimed that there would be 'restructuring' and therefore made the 'difficult decision' to close Volition Studio.

Referring to Steam player reviews, players mainly think that this work is similar to 'canned games', involving 'stiff scripts, outdated AI, many bugs, and lack of details in the city', and the praise rate on SteamDB for this work is only 58.29%.

Recently, a Reddit user discovered that former Volition community manager Tyrin Stevenson's LinkedIn profile shows that the 'Saints Row' reboot version sold only 1.7 million copies. For reference, 'Saints Row 4' did not disclose sales data, but the official claimed that the game 'sold over 1 million copies in the first week', while 'Saints Row 3' sold 5.5 million copies, and 'Saints Row 2' sold 3.4 million copies.

Facing this kind of sales volume, it is logical for Volition Studio to eventually close. According to previous TapTechNews reports, the 'Saints Row (reboot)' and 'Red Faction' have now been handed over to another studio PLAION for operation.
