China Mobile Completes 5G New Call Equipment Testing with Multiple Vendors

TapTechNews August 14th news, China Mobile announced yesterday that it has successfully completed a new round of large-scale selection and testing of 5G new calling equipment from manufacturers such as ZTE, Dongfang Communication, Huawei, and XinXun. The tested equipment includes VoNR+ capable network elements and converged media planes, involving 42 test scenarios.

According to the introduction, China Mobile's 5G new calling service introduces technologies such as DC data channels, EVS (Enhanced Voice Service) codec and audio and video AI processing on the basis of the traditional VoLTE audio and video calling service to realize the transmission of multimedia information such as pictures, files, gestures, VR/AR, etc., bringing an interactive and immersive business experience. 5G new calls include new services such as fun calls, digital humans, content sharing, screen sharing, intelligent translation, AR marking, and DC customer service, which can bring users a clearer picture quality, more stable connection and lower latency calling experience.

This test aims to further promote the technological maturity of 5G new calling equipment, increase business capacity, and improve the service level of 5G new calling business.

In addition, in order to solve the problem that there is currently no mature commercial instrument available for testing China's 5G new calling business, China Mobile has developed a performance test kit supporting multi-vendor 5G new calling equipment, and completed the equipment performance test with ZTE, Dongfang Communication, Huawei and XinXun.

This test kit is the first 5G new calling performance test tool in the industry that can support multiple vendors, which solves the problem of low efficiency in previous tests, increases test safety, and improves test accuracy and consistency. In this selection test, the labor cost is reduced by 50%, and the test cycle is shortened to 1/4 of the original.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, China Mobile's 5G new call has been tested for commercial use in pilot provinces in June this year, and will be launched for commercial use in the first batch of 14 provinces and the second batch of 17 provinces in October and December respectively. The 5G new call strategic product will achieve full-network scale commercial use this year.
