Tesla's FSD in China Preparations, Plans and Updates

TapTechNews May 31, Reuters reports, Tesla China is preparing to file its FSD function with the relevant authorities for the rollout of this function this year.

Although Tesla's FSD has not been rolled out in the Chinese market yet, as early as when Model 3 was launched, FSD was sold with the car at a price of $10,000 (TapTechNews note: currently about 64,000 yuan). They also plan to introduce an FSD subscription system in China, and the price may be $98 per month (TapTechNews note: currently about 711 yuan).

Tesla is striving to introduce the latest version of the software, FSD V12, to China. Elon Musk said that Tesla has a path to offering a fully autonomous driving system.

Tesla is also considering authorizing FSD to other Chinese automakers. The sales of FSD in China will open up a new source of revenue for Tesla. Due to the competition from Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, Tesla's sales in China decreased by 7.6% from January to April in 2024.

On April 28, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China released the 'Notification on the Testing Situation of Four Safety Requirements for Automobile Data Processing (Batch 1)', which mentioned that all models produced by Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory fully comply with the compliance requirements and is the only foreign-funded enterprise that meets the compliance requirements.
