TapTechNews May 20th news, the market research organization Canalys released a report today stating that in the first quarter of 2024, the top five smartphone processors in terms of shipment volume are MediaTek, Qualcomm, Apple, Unisoc, and Samsung respectively.
MediaTek ranked first, with a global market share of 39%. The shipment volume of MediaTek processors reached 114 million, an increase of 17% year-on-year. The five major customers of Xiaomi, Samsung, OPPO, Transsion, and vivo accounted for 23%, 20%, 17%, 13%, and 12% of the shipment volume of MediaTek's smartphone processors respectively.
The shipment volume of Qualcomm's smartphone processors increased by 11% to 75 million. The three major customers of Samsung, Xiaomi, and Honor accounted for 26%, 20%, and 17% of the shipment volume respectively.
The report mentioned that the shipment volume of smartphones equipped with Apple processors decreased by 16% year-on-year, but Apple still accounts for 41% of the total global smartphone revenue, reaching 56 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 404.88 billion yuan).
Unisoc is the fastest-growing among the top five smartphone processor manufacturers, with a year-on-year increase of 64% to 26 million. This is mainly due to the expansion of its main partner Transsion in emerging markets such as Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America, resulting in double-digit growth in the shipment volume of smartphones in these regions.
