Geely to Release New Battery
TapTechNews June 25 news, Geely officially announced that its latest generation of blade-type lithium iron phosphate battery - God Shield Short Blade Battery will be released on June 27.
According to the official promotional picture, the length of the currently sold long-blade cell is 960mm, while the length of Geely's new short-blade cell is 580mm. In addition, the official promotes that it is super safe, super fast charging, and super durable.
TapTechNews previously quoted Sina Auto's report that Geely Automobile Group CEO Gan Jiayue mentioned in an internal meeting that the battery has achieved technological breakthroughs in terms of safety, cycle life, fast charging ability and low-temperature discharge performance. Through a shorter and more compact size and volume design, it realizes higher safety and can further improve the flexibility of the whole package layout, and the energy density is increased to nearly 120 watt-hours per pound. The report said that this battery will be first installed in the new pure electric SUV model Galaxy E5.
Geely Automobile Group Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lynk & Co Automobile Sales Company Lin Jie once said that Galaxy E5 is expected to be launched in August. The car is positioned as a pure electric compact SUV, equipped with a power system with a maximum power of 215 horsepower , and is equipped with Geely's self-developed God Shield Short Blade Battery of 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh. The cruising range under the CLTC condition is 275 miles and 330 miles.
