CATLs Response to 'Strive for 100 Days' and Outlook on New Energy Industry_0

According to Tencent News report, on June 25th at the Summer Davos Forum site, CATL's chairman and CEO Zeng Yuqun responded by saying, 'Striving for a hundred days is to call on everyone to practice the basic skills well, and we didn't force everyone.'

TapTechNews noticed that Zeng Yuqun also said that in the environment of the new energy price war, value is the most important. He gave an example at the forum, saying, 'For example, the battery made by others cannot be recycled, and the price may be one dollar. The battery I make has 5000 cycles, and I charge one dollar and fifty cents. So from the perspective of value, on average, we are the most valuable. Therefore, we should not focus on the price at the time of purchase and sale, but on the value throughout the life cycle, that is, on quality and safety.'

When it comes to the issue of R & D investment, Zeng Yuqun believes that comparing the percentage of R & D investment between enterprises has little significance. Zeng Yuqun mentioned that CATL's revenue exceeded 400 billion yuan last year, and the R & D expense was tens of billions. Smaller enterprises seem to have a relatively large R & D investment ratio, but in fact, it is just an investment of a few billion yuan, but 'in such R & D in batteries, such investment is actually very small.' He gave an example that CATL's investment in the research and development of condensed matter batteries is 4 billion yuan.
