Ive recently gave an interview on the podcast 'Seven Songs in a Life' and recounted how his upbringing shaped his creative thinking and eventually led him to join Apple, where he was in charge of the look and feel design of the iPhone, iPad, AirPods and MacBook.

TapTechNews noted that although Ive entered Apple during the period when Jobs left the company in 1992, he said the creative spark instantly sparked when they finally met five years later. 'During that period before Steve came back, I learned a lot of things, but I didn't realize I was learning at that time, and that experience was extremely painful,' Ive said in the podcast interview released on Tuesday.

However, according to Ive, those'very difficult years' were exactly what he needed to become the well-known designer he is today. 'It was a feeling that both of us felt, like an extraordinary connection,' he said.

Ive described his time working at Apple under Jobs from 1997 to 2011 as 'the happiest and most extraordinary 15 years of my life', and unlike in his early years without Jobs, under Jobs' leadership, his learning in Apple became clearer and the focus was more on 'the products we were creating'.

'He could always effortlessly, in a seemingly understated way, describe very complex ideas, perceptions and opportunities,' Ive said about Jobs.

Jobs resigned as Apple's CEO in 2011 and died the same year, which Ive described as a 'huge loss'. Ive left Apple in 2019 and started his own design company.

'I felt like I had lost a person who represented a way of creating thinking, a way of thinking about culture, the importance of people and society,' Ive said. 'Every day I think about him and also realize this loss,' he said, 'and every day I am grateful for the time we had together, what I learned and what we discovered.'
