Beats Officially Launches New Beats Pill Bluetooth Speaker

TapTechNews June 25th news, before Beats was acquired by Apple in 2012, the first-generation Beats Pill was highly praised for its color and sound quality, kicking off the era of portable Bluetooth speakers.

In 2015, under Apple's leadership, Beats launched an upgraded version, namely Pill+, but as Beats gradually focused most of its energy on headphone products, the Pill+ series was finally discontinued in 2022.

Today, Beats officially launched a brand new upgraded Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker, bringing a series of improvements and lowering its price to $149.99 (TapTechNews note: currently about 1091 yuan). The Chinese version is 1299 yuan.

Three colors of the new Beats Pill (classic red, matte black, champagne gold) are now available for order, the US version will be officially launched on Thursday (June 27) local time, while the Chinese version only shows will be launched this summer.

The new Beats Pill adopts a completely redesigned speaker system, including a tweeter unit and a racetrack-shaped woofer, a detachable lanyard, a USB-C interface and Bluetooth connection, 24-hour battery life, and IP67 dust and water resistance.

The new Beats Pill is equipped with a detachable lanyard and a soft silicone backing, has a larger custom racetrack woofer that can push an additional 90% of the air volume, bringing deep, full, and more impactful bass.

This speaker uses a new generation of neodymium magnet driver units, which can push more air volume and increase the motor power by 28%, bringing more accurate and excellent sound effects.

The new Pill also abandons the design of the dual tweeter units and instead uses a single redesigned independent tweeter unit to improve stability and reduce distortion; and both speakers use a 20° streamlined design to help direct the sound waves towards your head and effectively avoid obstacles that may block the sound waves.

This speaker has enhanced internal sealed protection, supports IP67 level dust and water resistance, and can help resist the invasion of dust, sand, and water whether by the poolside, on the beach, or in the rain.

If you have two Beats Pill speakers, you can also pair them for use to get louder sound in a larger space (amplifier mode), or you can choose to split the sound into left and right channels for playback through different speakers (stereo mode).

In addition, it also supports Class 1 Bluetooth connection, supports voice assistants, and can be used as a hands-free phone. Just press a button to activate Siri or Google Assistant.

In other aspects, the Beats Pill is equipped with a USB-C interface for the first time (a black C-to-C data cable is included in the box), which can realize lossless audio transmission, charging, or reverse charging through a wired connection.

This speaker itself has a battery life of up to 24 hours and supports fast charging. After charging for 10 minutes, it can provide 2 hours of playback time. The new Pill has four button s on the top, namely the power button, the central button, and the volume increase and decrease buttons. Each button can provide multiple functions.

The new Beats Pill is about 10% lighter than Pill+, about 680 grams, and the size is slightly larger than Pill+, about 22 cm long and about 7 cm wide and high, which can be easily put into the bag, but it is not suitable to hold in the hand anytime and anywhere.
