TapTechNews May 22nd news, Modos launched the ModosPaperMonitor 60Hz e-ink display and the ModosDevelopmentKit development kit, and the solution is now open source.
According to the introduction, the ModosPaperMonitor is a 13.3-inch E-Ink display with a resolution of 1600x1200 and supports a 60Hz refresh rate. It can be connected via HDMI and USB-C interfaces and supports plug-and-play for Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems.
TapTechNews noticed that Modos simultaneously launched the ModosDevelopmentKit development kit, which is compatible with black and white and color E-Ink panels of 6 inches and 13.3 inches.
This kit uses Xilinx Spartan-6 LX16 FPGA, realizes USB Type-C DP Alt video input through PTN3460, and ADV7611 realizes DVI (micro HDMI interface) video input. The Raspberry Pi RP2040 main controller is used for USB communication and firmware upgrade, and has the following characteristics:
Processing latency is less than 20 µs
Supports 2-level, 4-level, and 16-level grayscale output
Optimized 2-level and 4-level driving modes for latency
Automatically switches between 2-level and 16-level grayscale driving modes
Hardware Bayer dithering, blue noise dithering, and error diffusion dithering without additional latency
The hardware design of the ModosPaperMonitor display and the FPGA firmware source code are now open source.
