Saudi Aramco to Build Quantum Computer with Pasqal

TapTechNews May 22nd news, the oil giant Saudi Aramco announced the day before yesterday that it will join hands with the neutral atom quantum computing enterprise Pasqal to build the first quantum computer in Saudi Arabia. The scale of this quantum computer is up to 200 qubits.

According to the cooperation agreement signed by both parties, the installation, maintenance and operation of this quantum computer will be the responsibility of Pasqal. The computer is planned to be completed and deployed in the second half of 2025.

This quantum computer will initially use the 'analog' mode, and after one year, the computer will be upgraded to a more advanced 'analog-digital' hybrid mode, which can provide more powerful quantum computing power.

Looking to the future, the two parties to the agreement consider establishing an internationally leading quantum computing academic institution in Saudi Arabia to promote the development of quantum algorithms.

As one of the publicly traded companies with the highest market capitalization in the world, Saudi Aramco's large-scale investment in the advanced computing power field has never stopped:

According to TapTechNews' query, in the latest Top500 supercomputing list released this month, there are 6 supercomputers owned or jointly owned by Saudi Aramco.

Among them, there are both the once world's top ten supercomputer Dammam-7 (now ranked 37th in computing power), and the Tuwaiq X GPG supercomputer based on the Nvidia HGX H100 server module (now ranked 111th in computing power).
