Huawei's Hongmeng NEXT Starts Beta, AutoNavi Maps Leads in Native App Development

TapTechNews June 24th, at the HDC 2024 Huawei Developer Conference held last weekend, Huawei announced that Hongmeng NEXT (native Hongmeng) officially launched the Beta for developers and pioneer users.

In the subsequent breakout session activities, AutoNavi Maps announced that it has become the first enterprise in the map navigation field to kick off the research and development of the native Hongmeng version App. Currently, based on the distributed technology of the Hongmeng system, AutoNavi Maps has achieved multi-terminal deployment, and travel and location information services have achieved seamless transfer on Hongmeng devices.

Song Haobo, the technical director of AutoNavi Maps on Hongmeng, disclosed that the latest version of the current AutoNavi Maps native application already supports distributed multi-devices, by using one set of code to be compatible with terminals such as mobile phones, folding screens, and Pads.

TapTechNews noted that AutoNavi Maps officially announced the timeline of the development of the native Hongmeng version:

September 2023, the two sides began to discuss Hongmeng.

October 24, 2023, the internal project was started.

December 1, 2023, the Hongmeng cooperation signing ceremony was held.

January 18, 2024, the basic function development was completed.

June 21, 2024, the multi-device full-process development was completed.
