Since the announcement of the plan, the construction progress of the campus has been slow, and Apple has not provided the latest news on the construction. Recently, Apple told TriangleBusinessJournal that they have suspended the campus construction project and are cooperating with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and the North Carolina Department of Commerce to extend the project timeline by four years. Although the reason for the postponement has not been announced yet, but Apple says it is still committed to completing the campus in North Carolina.

Apple has been operating in North Carolina for more than twenty years. We are deeply committed to developing our team here. In the past three years, our team in Raleigh has increased by more than 600 people and we are looking forward to developing our new campus in the next few years.

Apple submitted a development plan for the first phase of construction last year, but the exact timetable for the project has been unclear. Apple's plan in ResearchTrianglePark includes six buildings and a parking lot, with a total of 700,000 square feet of office space and 190,000 square feet of auxiliary space, as well as nearly 3,000 parking spaces on 41 acres.

Apple owns 281 acres of land in the area where it plans to build the campus, so there may eventually be multiple construction phases. While preparing for the construction of the North Carolina Research Center, Apple has rented more than 200,000 square feet of office space in Cary, North Carolina.
